Drenthe wants to attract Chinese tourists: “Holland is so much more than Amsterdam and Giethoorn”
Chinese tour operators will be visiting the province Drenthe this week, on invitation of the province itself.
With this visit, Drenthe wants to draw attention to the touristic opportunities of Drenthe among these tour operators, in the hope that they will offer the province to their customers.
Best of Drenthe
“There are many Chinese people traveling to Europe already. This week we want to show them the best of Drenthe”, says deputy Henk brink.
“Between the ten and fifteen tour operators will be arriving this afternoon in Eelde. They will be welcomed by the provincial governor. They will be visiting all highlights in Drenthe during the week. These locations are amongst other things the Drents Museum, Memorial centre Westerbork, the Hunebedcentrum, Royal Goedewaagen and the international wooden shoe museum”.
The province will be paying for all the expenses. “To us, this is some sort of acquisition. Therefore, we are collaborating with Marketing Drenthe. We are inviting the Chinese delegation here, in Drenthe. And one thing you know for sure: by doing nothing, they will certainly not be visiting us”. According to Brink there is a lot of interest coming from the national press. “So I believe that we will appear in the national news these days”.
“For me, this week will be successful once tour operators conclude that Drenthe is an interesting market. Holland is more than just Giethoorn and Amsterdam”, says Brink. He has high hopes that more Chinese tourists will be visiting our province in the near future.
