Ever since the founding in 1989, Ceramic Museum Goedewaagen is doing scientific research on decorated Dutch pottery dated after 1873. Besides a treasure of ornamental pottery, consumers goods, tiles and tile tableaus from the Art Nouveau and Art Deco era the museum regularly presents groundbreaking expositions about its research.
The museum builds with its thesaurus the biggest database of the world in the field of digital sources on Dutch pottery. In respect of collectors from all over the world permanent determinations are carried out and possible forgeries are pointed out and put on international sites. In collaboration with various work groups the production of models and decors of earlier Dutch businesses is being reconstructed. In addition to that knowledge of clay, glazing and firing recipes is being collected systematically.
